The University of Notre Dame has a long and deep commitment to the study of Ancient Philosophy.

This interdisciplinary Workshop focuses on the relation between Ancient Philosophy and other humanities disciplines. It covers all periods of Ancient Philosophy, and embraces a wide range of methodologies.  The Workshop draws faculty and graduate students from a variety of departments and programs, including Classics, History and Philosophy of Science, the Medieval Institute, Philosophy, Political Theory, the Program of Liberal Studies, and Theology.

In its international outreach the Workshop collaborates with a number of partners in their own local contexts.  Its first official international partner is the De Wulf-Mansion Centre for Ancient, Medieval, and Renaissance Philosophy at the KU Leuven, Belgium.

The activities of the Notre Dame Workshop on Ancient Philosophy are funded by the College of Arts and Letters and support from the Program of Liberal Studies.  Previous support has come from the Gladys Krieble Delmas Foundation, the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation, and the Earhart Foundation.
